Since the year of 2013, Justin Bieber has been caught the paparazzi's eye negatively. The media did not focus on his music, but rather the actions he has taken in the past 2 years.
During Justin´s Believe tour, his life started to change for the worst. Justin had entered the phase of not giving a care in the world. Instead of thinking about the consequences that followed his actions, he decided to ignore them. He was acting in the moment. For instance, Justin was seen peeing in a mop bucket in public, throwing eggs at his neighbor's house, and showing up late to his own concert. One of the worst moments he had in those two years being the most publicized was when he was arrested on January 23, 2014 for driving under the influence and having an expired license. During that time, everything was spiraling out of control, he was going through a tough time. Like any other person, he hit his breaking point.
After dark times come light. After being arrested he realized that he was doing so many wrong things causing him to fall off track. Justin felt like he disappointed his fans, family and friends several times. On the day of the arrest, Justin´s best friend Ryan Butler spoke to him via telephone and some of the first things Justin asked was; ¨Did my Beliebers leave me? Are they still here?¨ Justin was so broken that he wanted to change his ways. He wanted to be the man everyone else knew he could be. The day of the arrest had changed his life forever; he had finally seen the light.
He started to lift himself up and avoid the drama that could bring him down. He released an album called Journals in December 2013. This album was not as noticed as his previous album due to being known as a bad influence at the time. Justin has not attended award shows either since he was on the road to building up a better life.
On February 27, 2015, Bieber, alongside Skrillex and Diplo dropped the song Ẅhere are ü now. Later, this became “song of the summer”. Many fans were surprised to hear Justin try something new with other artists instead of sticking to “Regular Pop” music. An abundant amount of past haters started to like the song since it was something different. Originally Where are ü now was written by Justin and his piano, but Justin decided to send it to Skrillex and Diplo to mash it up. The high pitched dolphin noise heard in the chorus is Justin´s voice mashed up in several different ways.
¨Where are ü now¨ is what led to Justin’s next success which was the release of ¨What Do You Mean ¨on August 28, 2015. Justin decided to countdown for the single with a different artist each day holding up signs that said ¨What do you mean ___ days¨. This countdown featured different artists from different genres of music like Luke Bryan, Ariana Grande, and Big Sean. Justin was trying to show the fans and other artists as well that he´s trying to reach out to different people to promote his official comeback song.
On August 28, 2015, history was made. Justin´s single Ẅhat Do You Mean made it to number 1 on Itunes in five minutes out beating Ariana Grande´s record of Problem hitting number 1 in 40 minutes. What Do You Mean also out beat One Direction´s single Drag Me Down on spotify with 21 million streams on spotify in just five days meanwhile One Direction had 20 millions streams in their first week of release. Justin also became the youngest artist in Billboard history to have a number 1 song on the Billboard charts. Justin could’ve been the youngest artist to obtain that in 2012 when his song Boyfriend was released but it was number 2 on the Billboard charts.
After the release of What Do You Mean, fanatics were thrilled with the reactions of past haters giving Justin’s new music a chance. Justin began teasing his new upcoming album Purpose stating that “this album is full of honesty and personal thoughts/experiences.” The reason he named it Purpose was due to the fact that “ (He) felt like (he) lost (his) purpose, and (he) felt like (he) found his purpose again." Justin is not at the place he wants to truly be in but he is glad he is not at the place he used to be. To reveal the track names of his album, he had many artists draw graffiti on walls all around the world from New York to Germany to Norway and many other beautiful cities and countries which you can see on his instagram page, @justinbieber.
It’s been three years since he has released an official studio album and the hype is greater than before. Justin Bieber is truly back into the music industry. Although he might mistakes in the upcoming future, it’s fine because he’s “not made out of steel” (Lyrics from Justin’s single I’ll Show You”. Check out his new album “Purpose” out November 13th on iTunes, Spotify and nearby stores like Best Buy, Target, etc.
Bieber is back and he’s ready to be a better person.
