Robbery is major worldwide issue in this world today. I feel people attempt robbery because it gives them pleasure. Stealing from others is just straight up wrong no matter how you put it. There are laws towards robbery, which basically state if you steal, there will be negative consequences. However the fact that robbery is still happening means these laws need to be enforced stronger. Sometimes people commit robbery because they want something but can't afford it, or maybe they can afford it but they don't want to spend money. People need to understand not everything can go your way so they need to learn to accept it. My point is, no one should commit robbery.
There was recently an attempt robbery at Roosevelt Field Mall just before Christmas. Police identified the robber as Oliver Lee. Lee tried to rob the Tourneau Jewelry store in the mall. Lee attempted to steal a rolex. According to police, Lee’s gun went off as he struggled with a security guard and a mall employee was shot in the shoulder. Firstly, we should know rolexes are expensive watches. They sell for thousands of dollars. Not only did Lee try to rob a store and failed, but he also shot a man. This is unacceptable; an employee who just came to work thinking it was going to be another regular day, got injured. Lee should receive jail time in my opinion, because he could have killed that man. This is the problem nowadays, you never know who has what on them. But the fact that Lee went to such a popular area, scanners should have went off. Laws on robbery should be enforced more so people have the knowledge to know they can’t steal.
Another case of robbery, two teenagers were shot to death at Auburn Gresham liquor store. Police identified these two robbers as 15 year old Keshawn Marzette and 17 year old William Larson. The two teenage boys went into the liquor store and announced they were robbing it then they pulled out a handgun. After that a male employee whipped out his gun and shot them to death. My opinion on this is those teenage boys should have never tried to rob that store. They whipped a gun so i don’t blame the employee for shooting at them. He was only using self defense. If he didn't do that then who knows, maybe those teenage boys would have ended his life. Those boys knew what they were doing, they knew they were doing something wrong but they still went ahead with the plan. I feel maybe they shouldn't have died but sadly that was their consequence. They shouldn't have tried to rob that store in the first place. This is why laws towards robbery need to be enforced in a better way.
As you can clearly see, people should not commit robbery because there will be consequences. We need to enforce our laws towards robbery in a better and stronger way. Robbery is a negative thing so why commit it? When you steal you’re always going to be taking something from someone else. No one likes it when people steal from them. Robbery should come to an end, but sadly it never will unless really harsh punishments are given.
