Discrimination against muslims needs to stop

Discrimination towards people of Muslim faith is starting to become more common ever since the San Bernardino shootings, in which two Muslims killed over a dozen people in the name of ISIS. Just because someone is Muslim doesn't mean that they are a part of ISIS or they are a terrorist. Sadly some people don't realize that a few extremists don’t represent the one billion peaceful Muslims living on our planet.
On December 12, a man was charged with a hate crime for terrorizing Muslim restaurant owners. Robert Murino came into Salt and Pepper’s pizza shop and ordered some food. He noticed the people serving him were Muslim. There names were Lina Parvin, age 35, and Tahir Mahood, age 34. Murino continued asking them if they were Muslim and then he started cursing the two employees out. Moments after Murino started to vandalize the store, “smashing two glass partitions at the food counter with a chair”, Mahood tried to calm him down but Murino ended up punching Madooh in the face.
Murino did all of this to that pizza shop and hit Mahood just because the employees working there including Mahood were Muslim. Hate crime is not acceptable.
It could be inferred that Murino was inspired by Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump’s anti-Muslim plan for America based on stereotypes of all-Muslims-are-terrorists. “Our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason for human life,” said Donald Trump. Trump is just another one of those people who can't seem to realize just because someone is Muslim that doesn't mean they're a threat to the U.S. It's true the people in ISIS are of the Islamic faith, but the people in ISIS are extremists.
Murino is a very sick human being and there are a lot of people out there just like him. Mahood stated “I've been here for the last two years and nothing ever happened like this before. As a Muslim, I want to be polite, I don't want to fight anyone.” Mahood is a average man who was doing his job and Murino came in and picked a fight with him. Discrimination against Muslim people is a serious issue, not only in New York, and it needs stop.
Recently, while waiting for the bus, a woman was abused and called trash because she was Muslim. Mayor Bill De Blasio’s administration has reached out to New York Muslims urging them to report hate crimes and sending staffers to visit mosques and meet with community leaders. It nice to know our mayor is at least attempting to take action and help discrimination towards Muslims stop. Personally, I am not a Muslim but I know it's wrong to discriminate against Muslims and it needs to stop.
