Newcomers Family Fun Night on November 21, 2014 was an evening of fun activities such as dancing, music, food that encouraged the spread of culture. It is a time when teachers, students, and their family could get together and spend quality time getting to know each other and just have fun.
The night, run by Newcomers Director Ms. Ramjan and AP of ESL Mr. Wasden, was packed with fun activities that several families of diverse backgrounds attended. Ms. Ramjan said, “It’s a great time for students and teachers to get together and build relationships.” The events took place in the cafeteria with a population of over 200 people. The games included fun items like "how well do you know your teacher?" and "pass the teddy bear" which is a game where people are in a circle pass a stuffed bear until the music stops and whoever is left at the end wins a prize.
The staff as well as all the students, especially the Leadership students, worked very hard to make the event as fun and enjoyable as possible. One of the students, Syeda Mehdi said, “Our leadership class planned the event and set up the rules for the game and the event. Thanks to her and the rest of the leadership helpers, Family Fun Night would was a successful event that strengthened the relationship between teachers students and parents.
At this year’s Fun Night, there was a noticeably larger group of people who attended this event making it an incredibly fun night for students.
