Family Guy is Still Keeping Its Audience Laughing After 13 Years
By Adrion Doobay, Junior Writer
Family Guy has been around for years bringing laughter through your television. In each episode the family sets out on a new adventure to become closer. The dysfunctional Griffin family set forth to a life of laughter and twisted events in a wacky Rhode Island town. Family guy sets no boundaries. In this show, they joke about everything. That’s what makes this show hilarious; the things you should not joke about will surely be a joke in Family Guy. The laughter and the violence are some key components of the show’s popularity. That is what makes this show one of a kind. In today’s audience, that’s what people love to watch: a comedy with violent scenes. It catches the viewer’s attention. They find entertainment in a nonsensical show such as Family Guy.
Family Guy was created by Seth MacFarlane. The show’s first episode was aired January 31,1999. There are currently 15 seasons of family guy, which is approximately 246 episodes. Each episode is 30 minutes full of laughter and joy. This show is not recommended for people under the age of 14 due to its content. The show has mild jokes that people may happen to find offensive, but that does not stop Seth MacFarlane from continuously making more episodes of Family Guy. The show was temporarily cancelled in 2002, but brought back to FOX in 2005 after extraordinary DVD sales and because of the public’s demand. The fact that this show was cancelled at one point and was then brought back to its original glory shows that Seth MacFarlane tried his hardest to improve in episodes to come. MacFarlane pushed to make Family Guy the glorious and popular show it is today.
There are six main characters in the show. There is Peter, the carefree father who does not uphold the responsibilities of a dad. Lois is the mother that has to take care of everyone. Chris, the eldest son, takes after his father and is not the brightest or sharpest needle in the haystack. Meg is the daughter who everyone pushes around and takes for granted. Stewie, baby genius, is the youngest son who is secretly trying to kill his mother. Finally, there is Brian, the uptight talking dog who is a writer. This crazy family makes up an exceptional show which brings laughter to every audience.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, a popular movie, t.v. show and actor critic site, Family Guy has a rating of 67%. I for one disagree with Rotten Tomatoes views on Family Guy and believe the show deserves a much higher rating. Family Guy brings laughter and joy through my television with every episode. If I were to rate this show I would rate it at a 92%. Family Guy is definitely a show I would recommend to someone due to the humor and psychotic storyline.
Family Guy became a big hit over time. Its ban from television did not stop its DVD sales, and the demand brought Family Guy back to the viewers on public television. It is very thrilling and is joyous overall. Family Guy catches any viewer’s eyes easily which is why I would give this show a very high ranking. Although this is just my opinion, others may believe lead competing shows such as American Dad, The Simpsons, or Bob’s Burgers may be a better watch. I would recommend this show to anyone who watches netflix or public television in general. It just makes you want to keep watching more and more. I believe Family Guy has a long way to go before it is off the air due to how successful it is. Afterall. Family Guy has been out for over 15 years. Seth MacFarlane has ceased to let us down once again!
