In Ms. Ramjan's 2nd period class students were asked to discuss in an essay the role of women in the poem "The Iliad."

In life, women get treated poorly. Women don’t get the same respect as men. But that has changed. Now women can have the same jobs and can own property. I believe women do have strong roles in "The Iliad."
In "The Iliad", women had strong roles. Women were goddesses. They had the power to change the world. The women that were strong In "The Iliad" were Aphrodite, Athena and Hera. Secondary women who created war were Helen and Eris. These women could do anything they wanted. For example they could start war and trouble. Aphrodite was the goddess of love. She could make people fall in love. Athena was the goddess of war she could start fights. Hera was the wife of Zeus and the queen of the Ancient Greeks. These women had strong roles.
Not only those had those women had strong roles. Nora from A Dolls House had a strong role. She left her husband because all he cared about was his pride not her. Back then, you couldn’t leave your husband for any reason and if you did you couldn’t take your kids with you. Nora showed other women that they can stand up for themselves and what they believe in. Another person who had strong roles was Rosa Park. Rosa Park is a woman who sat on the front of the bus and white men told her to get up and Rosa refused. Rosa went to jail day for not giving her seat to the white man. But that day Rosa showed us that it doesn’t matter what color you are, you don’t have to give your seat to anybody unless you want to. Rosa showed that women have strong roles.
In life, women are still treated poorly, but these women showed us those us that women are important just as men. They showed us that women have strong roles. We can do the same things just as men because we are all equal. So always remember that women are just as important as men.
