Lady Hawk's Dominating season

The Hillcrest Girls Tennis team is having a very dominating season. The team started this season strongly by winning 4 out of its 5 games. This team has come a long way from the previous season, in which they lacked much experience. But this hardworking team consists of juniors and seniors, which gives these girls an advantage this season, because they are much more experienced players, and are determined to win.
The team started off the season by winning the first four games, but the team lost its next game to The Scholars Academy by 1 to 4. However, this does not prevent them from becoming champions at the end of the season. Captain of this team, Senior Zahirah Scott, states, “we accomplished winning our first four matches and are staying positive throughout our season. We brought the best out of ourselves and proved it on the courts. I'm very determined to win this season, more specifically as a team. We've played these teams consecutively and facing previous losses creates determination. We have been practicing since the summer. We were one of the first teams to have our medical and parent consent forms ready to be qualified to play. We plan on being co-division champs. That will only happen with practicing and winning!”. Zahirah is a not only a motivational captain, but she inspires her teammates to strive and aim big, even after losses from previous games.
Mr. Nepal, coach of the Girls Tennis Team, believes that this year could be their year. He believes that these girls can win the division. When he was asked to talk about the improvements the team has made, he stated, “Since many of the girls are seniors this year and most of the others were on the team last year, they all have experience. Experience is very important, especially when the pressure is on and it comes down to the last game. Most have been in this situation at least once. Many tennis players can easily fall apart when the pressure in on. They have improved tremendously every year. Each player has their specific strength and weakness.” He has faith in these girls and believes they have the potential to end this season as champions. Like every other athlete, one can easily lose focus if they miss a cross court shot or fail to smash successfully in a tennis match. However, since this team is well experienced, the players are aware that their focus should be on the game. “If they want a banner that will hang in the gymnasium for years to come and leave Hillcrest with a legacy, they will have to work very hard to make it a reality,” Mr. Nepal said.
These girls aren’t just teammates, but a family. Along with Coach Nepal, they have faith in themselves and their teammates that they will come back as first in the division. We wish them good luck in future games.
