Teachers are the people who educate the youth of society who in turn become the leaders of the next generation of people. A teacher plays an important role in the society. As a teacher, they have the ability to make a positive impact on their students to be kind, respectful, humble, and patient. Teachers make this life a better place. Ms.Khan is one of the newest teachers in Hillcrest, and she believes her experiences in high school and travelling have made her a better teacher.
Ms. Khan, who teaches Global History to 9th, 10th and 12th graders, “is taking her time to adjust in a new workplace.” She is still new to Hillcrest but it is not going to take a long time for her to get adjusted. “There are intrinsic benefits that come from helping with the learning of others,” said Ms. Khan. She gets to learn more while she is teaching something because her students help her to learn as well.
Ms. Khan preaches to her students about the benefits of hard work and self-reliance. “Very rarely in life are things just handed to you. Be prepared to work hard, expect change, and respect others.” This is a wonderful advice she has given to her students. She is telling us to be prepared for anything because things do not come frequently.
People always get inspired by other people to do something in their lives. They have always followed their inspiration. Just like them, Ms. Khan was inspired by her Social Studies and her A.P. U.S. History teacher in high school. They are the reasons why Ms. Khan is teacher right now. She followed them and took to them as her leader. “My A.P. U.S. History teacher made the subject more interesting by telling stories which you can’t find it in text books.” Her History teacher made that subject so easy for her by relating those stories with subject matter so it was easy for her to understand.
In life, people get happiness from little things. Ms. Khan gets pleasure from her family. “The day my niece was born and I became an aunt was one of the most amazing experiences for my family. This tiny person has brought us so much joy.” She got the happiness of becoming aunt. This little and tiny person gave her so much pleasure. Happiness can’t be bought by money. It takes time to be happy in life. Sometime people get happy from little things.
She also traveled many places. She has an ambition of visiting all 50 states with her fiance. She travelled to Dhaka which is the capital of Bangladesh. She had visited Shaheed Minar. Shaheed Minar was established to commemorate those killed during the Bengali Language Movement Demonstrations of 1952. Other than that, she had visited many restaurants, parks, zoos. This past summer, she had also visited Montana and Wyoming. “Travelling has always been one of my enjoyable moments of life.”
No matter where she goes, Ms. Khan still has her heart in the classroom. She loves to teach and her classroom reflects her desires to help students understand her material. She puts vocabulary lists on the wall and projects on the bulletin board. She makes her lesson plans based on Regents skills. She also has an after-school program so if a student misses the lesson, he/she can attend to learn what he/she did not get. If her students’ parents call her because they were concerned about the grades, she will tell them to work on what their kids have hard time doing.
Ms. Khan is dedicated to teaching her students and seeing them succeed in their exams.
