Nabeel Credits Hard Work, Pre-Med Teachers for Breaking Out
By Adrion Doobay, Junior Writer
With the second highest GPA in Pre-Med of 99.58, Nabeel Tanvier is a Senior star of the Pre-Med Institute.
Tanvier has many achievements under his belt with a stressful 1-8 schedule. Tanvier does not waste a moment of that time -- when he gets to school his mind is set to learn. Nabeel Tanvier took this opportunity in the Pre-Med Institute medical field because he wants to one day be a licensed Doctor.
As one of the younger children in his family, Tanvier wanted to be like his older siblings and strives to reach their level of success. In middle school, Tanvier did not show much interest in school. Tanvier did not participate nor interact with his other peers, but he found the confidence to start being social in high school. He interacted with other students and start to grow a strong relationship with his teachers.
According to Tanvier, “Many of the teachers in the Pre-Med Institute have taken the time to understand and get to know me and from that they have inspired me to follow my ambition, which is to become a doctor.” Without the help of his teachers, he would not have known which path to have taken. With the help of his friends, Tanvier is ever so grateful for the support and generosity of the teachers of the Pre-Med Institute.
Tanvier has received many awards in the Institute. From Gold Honor Roll to ARISTA Society, he has worked his way up to the top. As a student, Tanvier has high expectations from his teachers. Tanvier states, “As a student, I believe we should always be on task, have proper behavior and show respect to teachers and the peers around you.”
Every teacher has their own ways of teaching, but Tanvier learns in his own time frame by his own time clock. He likes learning with a strict set of rules, having his objective clear to him is a must. Determined and dedicated to get his school work set, Tanvier tries to learn everything in class. If the teacher is speaking, he does not hesitate to annotate her teachings. Revising is a must in Tanvier life, as his main focus when he gets home is to revise what the teacher says and look in depth on the topic to expand his knowledge rather than learn the topic again.
Tanvier’s teachers are also behind him, ready to offer their support and guide him as he goes. However, many of the teachers says he entered their classes with his mind set on the path to success. One of Tanvier’s current teacher, Mr. Rasheed states, “Tanvier was already one of my best students. He was the best in AP Biology. Tanvier’s effort is greatly shown. He puts in a lot of effort in everything he does.” Mr. Rasheed also says that Tanvier’s self-determination is evident in every act he pursues, whether academic or social.
Tanvier wants to give back to the community, and he starts small by helping fellow Hillcrest students. Tanvier tries his hardest to offer his help to struggling seniors trying to graduate. He also offers his experience to those under him because he did not have the help and support he offers to them. Tanvier believes it is our jobs as fellow human beings to help others and make the world a better place.
With a kind-hearted personality and a superior amount of knowledge, Tanvier is working his hardest to make the world a better place.
