The Public Service & Law SLC recently held an Award Ceremony on Wednesday January 21st 2015. While many students were honored for their hard work, two students, Ashley Nelson and Mouree Khan, stood out above the rest for their great contributions to Hillcrest High School and Public Service and Law.
Ashley Nelson, a ninth grader in Public Service and Law, earned the highest average out of the ninth grade. Nelson is a student who had perfect attendance. Public Service and Law teacher Mr. Potter said, “She is very thoughtful and determined what is she going to do in future.”
Once she had a trial work in her Law class, and she had to act as an old lady in a mock trial. She’s only 14 but she had to act like a 60 year-old and she aced the role that she was asked to play. Everyone in her class used her work as a real example of how to act a role. Her creativity is is way more than perfect. Nelson is curious and searches for things to learn.
Ms Khan, the director of Public Service and Law said, “Ashley’s top priority is doing well in class. Her attendance is perfect. She has great self-discipline and time management skills and is always ahead of her schedule. She takes command of, and responsibility for herself.”
Sophomore Mouree Khan was one of the best students in Public Service and Law as she had the highest average out of all tenth graders. She also took the advantages of each and every opportunity she had gotten. Mouree Khan got the Citizens Award for her involvement at the Honor Roll ceremony. Mr. Cichon said, “She is outstanding. She is dedicated and determined on what she’s doing. She is focused on what is coming next and she won’t miss a single opportunity that comes to her hand.”
She also got the highest grade on summer project. She got an award for having the perfect attendance. Ms Khan said, “Mouree’s approach to academics is methodical, neat, legible, deliberate, precise, knowledgeable, and reliable on the one hand, and creative, spontaneous, imaginative, smart, clever, articulate, and flexible on the other.”
Overall, every student’s goal to be the best student. However, only the kids who work hard enough can achieve their goals. Students like, Ashley Nelson and Mouree Khan are the great examples.
