The CW network, which brought us Gossip Girl, Gilmore Girls, Jane the Virgin and 90210, has been changing their image by producing shows like Arrow, Riverdale and The 100.
The 100 first aired in 2014 where it made an outbreak. The first season involved one hundred prisoners of the ark being sent to earth to see if it was habitable again after a nuclear explosion that happened 97 years ago. When they returned to Earth, they thought they were alone, but they go on to discover that a group of people, called the Grounder, still alive on Earth. They had to find a way to co-exist, otherwise humanity would become stagnant and go nowhere.
Season 2 was about living with the Mountain men, the Mountain men tricked the 100 in order to use their blood to survive. The mountain men were tricking the 100 by promising them a better life but the only thing they wanted to do was take advantage of them and even the other group of inhabitants, the Grounders. While this was happening, we see the rest of the people from the ark coming down to Earth to help the 100 and the Grounders.
Season 3, Clarke, the protagonist shifts to becoming a leader when it comes to fight against Alie, the leader of the city of lights. The city of lights was a way to control people by making them think that this place was everything they ever dreamed of. Clarke, had to stop everyone from falling for this trap that would ruin humanity. Also, in this season, we start to see an alliance between the Grounders and the Arkadians which are The 100.
When The CW network announced season 4 of The 100, many of its viewers had questions of what this season will be about. When the first episode aired, it answered many questions that the viewers had after the ending of season 3. The characters have evolved drastically since season 1 and continue to evolve which makes it one of the best conflicts in the show.
Within this season, we saw Clarke act like a leader. She followed her instincts which affects many of the other characters since now the full responsibility of saving humanity is in her hands. Many of the other characters have also developed, including Octavia, who in the beginning on the show depended on her brother, however she is now an independent character who has shown how strong her role in achieving the preservation of humanity. This is also something that many of the characters have gone through because they are faced with many more challenges.
With season 4 coming to an end, we have seen alliances break, more wars, and more conflict develop between the characters, but The 100 keeps proving that it is a show to watch and hopefully season 5 will keep this expectation.
