FANS SAY THEIR FINAL GOODBYE TO THE VAMPIRE DIARIES

Eight years of love, hate, hugs, tears, & smiles, It has been eight years since Stefan Salvatore, (played by Paul Wesley) & Damon Salvatore, (played by Ian Somerhalder) has taken our hearts. It has been the ride of a lifetime not just for the cast and staff of The Vampire Diaries, but also for the fans.
From season 1 to season 8, our hearts have been continuously messed with. It started with Stefan and Elena Gilbert, (played by Nina Dobrev) bumping into each other in the school hallway. From that day on, we, the fans, were in for an experience that would never be forgotten. Many began to fall in love with Stefan, Damon, & Elena. They were the ultimate love triangle, but this show was different. Romantic shows usually have fans adoring the two main characters. The Vampire Diaries had the success of having the fans fall in love with almost every character within the show.
Caroline, Bonnie, Matt, Alaric, Enzo, & Jeremy are primary examples of who had a huge impact on the show. The great thing about TVD is that the show revolved around every cast member. Everyone had a story to tell and it caused the audience to have a soft spot for them. Even with the enemies or "bad guys" like Nikklaus, Kai, Sybil & much more. The producers found a way to our heart in every way possible.
With love comes heartbreak as well. Heartbreak in the form of death was always a big hit in this show. There has been so many deaths across each season and it still feels like it just happened. The death of Aunt Jenna, Enzo, and Jo still finds a way to haunt us. The one death that had everyone in tears was ~spoiler alert~, Stefan Salvatore's death. Throughout the show, Stefan & Damon were the definition of a roller coaster relationship. These two were brothers who loved each other so much but at times highly disliked one another. Somehow, they always found a way back to each other, that was true love. The true love between them was shown for the last time in season 8, episode 16, when Stefan sacrificed himself to save Mystic Falls from Katherine, the queen of Hell. His last words to Damon were, "Goodbye, brother". It had everyone crying because when Damon first showed up in season 1, his first words were "Hello, brother". This line became very popular throughout the fan base of the show. It was a very emotional night for many viewers.
Many, including myself, never came to realize how much The Vampire Diaries meant. At first, when the name of the show was read, many assumed that it was just a cliché story of vampires vs werewolves. Although there were vampires and werewolves, there were other supernatural creatures involved. There were the Doppelgängers, the witches, travelers, passengers, siphons, and ghosts. The list goes on. You were introduced to new species every season and that is what kept the interest going.
It's a bittersweet moment of course. Like all great shows, it had to end at some point. The Vampire Diaries was not just about romantic relationships, it was about friendships, family, and loyalty. It showed how important it is to be by someone's side. It taught us that no matter who you are, you can love. Elena taught us that when Damon began to fall in love with her & he changed for the better. Stefan taught us that when he had downfalls with Damon. Enzo taught us that with Bonnie even after years of being tortured and experimented on.
After 8 seasons, it is done. The characters we have grown attached to, will forever be within us. Now that The Vampire Diaries isn't running anymore, it's only safe to say, turn off your humanity. Turn it off because it hurts so much to feel & it cannot be handled (reference to a certain line)!
